IM and Presence Integration question.

I am new to IM and Presence server. I am working on CUCM version 9.x. I have the question on integration . As I understand from my basic reading,

we have to integrate AXL as well as ,it asks for CUCM security password to become part of the cucm cluster. If IM and Presence server has full copy of the database what is the need for AXL integration to CUCM ?. Doesnt it already has all information (user and presence related) by data replication service ?.

Hello,

So to answer your question in short, AXL is the reason IM&P has the ability to retrieve, insert, and etc into the CUCM database.  IM&P does store a copy of the CUCM database on itself but with the AXL integration it actually has access to the CUCM database.
