Everything I have been reading says you cannot integrate a CME box to CUCMBE 7.X to use Connection voicemail for the CME users. I have configured remote CME boxes to Unity (standalone) before but never with CUCMBE.
1.) Is it true? You cannot integrate?
2.) Or is it possible but not supported?
Thanks in advance.

The CUC integration in a CUCMBE is locked down so you can only register those VM ports to the on-box CUCM. Several things are not possible in a CUCMBE system, see below.
Also, this would be not supported.
What you would need for support is a standalone CUC.
Note Cisco Unified Communications Manager Business Edition (CMBE) does not support adding new phone system integrations.
Cisco Unified Communications Manager Business Edition (CMBE) does not support deleting a phone system integration.
Note Cisco Unified Communications Manager Business Edition (CMBE) does not support secondary Cisco Unified CM servers.
Note Cisco Unified Communications Manager Business Edition (CMBE) does not support SIP servers.
Note Cisco Unified Communications Manager Business Edition (CMBE) does not support integrations with PIMG/TIMG units.
Note Cisco Unified Communications Manager Business Edition (CMBE) does not support phone system trunks.
