Hi all.
I am doing this in my lab to clear my concepts and using Cucm 7
I have 10 extensions. 5001 - 5011
When 5001 dials 5002, i want 5002 to see 0211230011 as incoming calling-ID. I hope you understand my question, i want to perform calling-id translation when 5001 dials 5002. Is it even possible ?

Hi there,
Yes it is. Create a translation pattern of 5002 and assign it a partition that only extension 5001 has access to, as well as a calling search space that has access to extension 5002. In the translation pattern, put a calling party transform mask of 0211230011.

Chris

Dear Sir,
before doing it, pls see that i have 10 DNs, 5001, 5002, 5003 etc. So when i define a translation pattern, it gives me an error that this pattern already belongs to existing DN !!!

No sir, its not working. I think there is a loop here. After translating to 5002, it remains 5002 and again 5002 will match, pls guide me what i am doing wrong

Hi there,
Not too sure why it stopped working, check to make sure that the phone you are calling from (5001) does not have direct access to phone it is calling (5002). Check this by ensuring it does not have a partition for 5002 in 5001's CSS on the device and/or line. You want to make sure it only has access to the translation pattern to make sure it is forcing it through the translation pattern to change the caller-id.

Sir, if i am not changing the Called number, every time this translation pattern will match right ? so isnt a loop forming here ?

Hi there,
Here's an example:
Phone 5001 settings
CSS: Translation-Phone_CSS
Translation-Phone_CSS Partitions:
Translation_PT
Phones_PT
(Make sure they are in that order)
Translation Pattern Settings
Partition: Translation_PT
CSS: Phones_CSS
Phones_CSS Partitions:
Phones_PT
Phone 5002 Settings:
Line 5002 Partition: Phones_PT
They key here is that the translation pattern CSS does not have access to itself and routes the call back to itself, it only has access to the 5002 Phone partition, in this case it is Phones_PT.

Sir i didnt understand your statement
They key here is that the translation pattern CSS does not have access to itself and routes the call back to itself, it only has access to the 5002 Phone partition, in this case it is Phones_PT.

If the translation pattern had the same CSS as the phone placing the call, it will choose to route the call to 5002 in the Translation_PT, which will route back to the translation pattern.
You may need to do some reading and searching on CSS/Partitions functionality. Here's some reading to start:
