Preinstalled CUCM applications for UC220

Just opening up a brand new UC220 server for a BE6K deployment.   I expected to find the usual OVA/ISO library on the datastore, so imagine my suprise when I find PCD, CUCM, Unity, CUPS and UCCX already in the inventory list of the vmware host.   The machines seem pre-installed. I cant find any docs on this apparently new process.  Can I just use the CLI to change the IP of these machines so that I can bring up a broswer and get to them?   The IP they have is not useable (Ok I could install a virtual pc and then inside the vmware machine bring up the browers).

I had planned to use PCD to migrate a cluster.  My experience with PCD is that it want you to specifiy an ISO file, not an already configured CUCM.  So how does this work?

Has anyone seen a UC220 server arrive with the machines already installed?

Cisco tech support keeps sending me docs that start from loading an OVA, I keep saying they are already configured!

Maybe this was a return shipped out again?

Yes, with version 10.5 BE6k ships with preinstalled applications as well. I did a BE6K install couple of months ago and received with preinstalled applications but ended up manually doing the install due to some errors.

Refer here:

Once you power up a VM you will see a similar screen, you can have pre-config or press continue to complete the platform config it will guide you through like any other installation:

I mean you can use the Answer file generator as well if you want to generate a platform config and convert the xmp to flp and use it to do the installation, or you can manually enter the platform config by hitting continue.

Also refer here for how to convert xml to floppy:

The installed applications are essentially what you get when you deploy the OVA files. This screen appeared for all the installed applications BUT NOT the PCD.   The PCD when you clicked on the Console tab, had a Linux Login prompt.   If you type SETUP you are prompted for the usual credentials and passwords and then it reboots, and again you are at the Linux prompt.  Doing ifconfig shows an assigned IP address that was of no value to me, so i changed it to a subnet I could get at on my ESXi host.   I pointed a browser to the server address and expected to see the PCD log in, but nothing.

I have attempted to get TAC to respond but they just keep sending me install docs and don't seem to understand the fact that we are telling them the OVA is installed.   So at this point I think the option is to delete the PCD and reinstall it  using the normal process.

As far as I read your post again, I provided you the answers to most of your queries if not all barring the PCD. While I referenced all correct information that details how to proceed ahead with the preconfigured VMs manually and using platform file, which seems like you didnt had the patience to read.

I was just voluntarily sharing my experience with you without getting any slightest benefit in return. I feel your response to the information provided is not very friendly, and seems like you are not appreciative of the free support you receive here.

So I will steer clear of your future posts.

I found an answer to my own question!

The answer is found in  a CISCO document entitled “BE6000-Predonfigured106.pdf “

Apparently they ship the system fully configured you just need to create a subnet addition to your network to accommodate the canned version they ship.   Apparently this is shipped as a "rapid deployment" and "predefined system" option.

I wish they had put this document in the box, it would have saved me three days!

Suggest anyone who gets this read the document it explains it all!

I would also note that the PCD that is shipped in the data store, if you run it it will reinstall the same preconfigured machine!

@Terry thanks for you help!
