Translation/Transformation Help

We have a fairly new CUCM installation (10.5.1.10000-7) with a 2951 gateway (running IOS 15.2(4)M6a with one trunk group with two T1/PRI's.  I am trying to setup a translation (or maybe transformation, whichever is appropriate) to translate an incoming ANI number of 3181234567 to an internal DN extension number so that when 3181234567 calls any number on the CUCM the caller ID on the Cisco 8945 unit shows as if it is calling from that internal DN.  Does anyone know how to do this?  I have tried translation-rule and translation-profile and adding that to the dial-peer but it doesn't work.

What type of GW? h.323, SIP or MGCP?

Could you reword your requirement? I'm not sure I get it.

You want a calling number of 3181234567 to be translated to an internal number, e.g. 1234 so that whoever the call lands on they will see 1234? Sounds a little odd.
