Hi Christian,
Did you find the solution?
I am going to try to repair with the ISO. Is it the solution you used?

Hi Cristian,
I have the same problem here.
I'm using UCS C210.
When start booting the ESxi 5.5 then the same error comes up :
error loading /state.tgz fatal error 6 (buffer too small).
Based on your experience,
Can I keep the existing VM files when re-install the ESxi?
I'm using single datastore (same location between OS Esxi and VM Files)
Please Help.
Thanks
Bagus

We have ESXi 5.5 installed on a standalone UCS C200M2 server. I saw that one of the drives in RAID10 was showing "pd missing backplane slot 0" on CIMC.
I went into WebBIOS and configured it be online. However, upon reboot I got this error.
Upon removing the disk, my ESXi host rebooted fine. I am going to replace the disk and see how it goes.
Cheers

after replacing the disk the status went back to ""pd missing backplane slot 0". I went into the web BIOS and brought it online along with the disk. But, the hypervisor failed to load now. :(
I took the disk out to try and was able to boot the hypervisor.
How do I replace the faulty disk?

I tried hot swap again and the status for the new disk is now "Rebuild". (Inventory--> Storage0--> Physical drive info). I can still hear server beeps (1 off and 1 ON) however the amber light is flashing as against stable before replacing the drive. Hopefully, once the rebuild is complete, the amber light should stop flashing and NO BEEPS.
