We are using Unity 3.1(5) as a standalone VM with Exchange 5.5. How can I limit the size of a mailbox either by size or number of messages? I tried changing the mailbox limits in Exchange. When I did this it allowed me to record a new message but it did not store the message in the user's mailbox and it did not give the caller any indication that the mailbox could not accept new messages. Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks,
Glenn

What you want to do is turn on the Full Mailbox Check feature. It is not on by default.

I wrote a white paper explaining how storage limits work with Unity and Exchange 2000 a couple years are back. 99% of the doc applies to Exchange 5.5 and Unity.

Hope this helps...

Keith,
Thanks for the info. I will try it this evening. I'm a little confused as to what happens on a ring no answer from an internal call (assuming the calling party has a VM on the same Unity server).
Also, are there any utilities that will allow me to purge messages over X number of days? Exchange cleanup agent?
Thanks, Glenn

Check Answermonkey.net and try the Message Store Manager. It is a great utility and easy to use.

That works but when I get the failed delivery notification in my mailbox, it does not light my MWI. Is there another setting I need to change?
Thanks, Glenn

No that is not configurable. You will hear the NDR over the phone but it will not light MWI.
Thanks,
Keith
