Unity 3.1.5 to 4.0.5 upgrade

I have a Unity 3.1.5 server running on a ICS 7750. I have purchased a new MCS 7825 to run this on while migrating it to 4.0.5. We have purchased the correct upgrade kit as far as we can tell :). I need to know a few questions.

I want to build this new server off site and create a backup of the 3.1.5 server using DiRT and copy it to the new server and restore it. Then upgrade the new MCS to 4.0.5. When everything is working right I will swap the original server out and put this one in and reconfigure Call Manager.

My questions are I can only seem to download the 3.1.6 CD's for Unity. Will this be OK to put on the new server and restore the backup made by from 3.1.5? If not where do I get the 3.1.5 CD's?

Also the current Unity server is running with a dongle which I will not have access to because they will need it in the old server untill we switch them around. Will everything work on the new server even though I do not have the dongle? Will I be able to do the upgrade with out the dongle? If not how do I get around this issue? I really do not want to touch the existing environment and only want to duplicate it on the new systems.

no, you need to use 3.1(5) - you can't restore a DiRT backup to a different version of Unity. You can get older versions of Unity (including 3.1(5)) off the "Unity archives" link on the CCO download page - here's the link: http://www.cisco.com/kobayashi/sw-center/sw-voice.shtml

you'll find versions back to 3.1(1) on there.

And yes, you can install 3.1(5) without the dongle and do the restore - it wont let you add new users, of course, and will bark warnings into the event log - eventually it'll shut itself down so it can't be used in production but for the purposes of installing, restoring and then upgrading you should be OK.

Unity archives...didn't think to look there :). Anyway all I see is CD image 1 for 3.1.5 where on 3.1.6 I am downloading two CD images. Is all that I need image 1 for 3.1.5?

Any information on if I just need CD image 1? Also if anyone has any experiance with the upgrad proccess and how I handle the transfer from the dongle to the new Flex license model I would apreciate it if you could let me know how all of this should work out.

CD 1 has all the Unity EXEs and DLLs on it - the other CDs have language prompts, Dialogic related drivers and such - you can use CD 1 from 3.1(5) and CD 2/3 from 3.1(6) I believe (I've done similar things on the 4.x line) without a problem.

great that is what I was wanting to hear. Do you have any information on the upgrade proccess in regards to the dongle upgrade? if I get my customer a new license now will there old one deactivate? Do I need the old physical dongle at anytime during the upgrade? Thanks alot for your help.
