Unity Global design integrated with avaya

Hi all,

I have a customer who wants to deploy unity 4.0 in 4 regions (say A,B,C and D). He has Avaya Definity G3 in 3 regions (A,B, C). There is an existing VM networking between the Avaya systems. All employess can leave VMs to other employees all over the world.

He wants to start Unity deployment in the 4th region(D ..where there is no Avaya ) and he wants the Unity to be integrated with the existing Avaya VM system.

The question here : how i can do the intergration over the WAN between the Unity (in region D) and Avaya system in any other region (A or B or C)?

I know AMIS require local integration ?? Correct? or I can use a gateway?

Please help!

Hi -

Check out Unity's PIMG integration for the Avaya G3 - http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/products/sw/voicesw/ps2237/prod_configuration_guide09186a008037d0d6.html

Also, what voicemail is customer using currently for Avaya G3? If Octel, you may want to look at the Unity Bridge - http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/products/sw/voicesw/ps2237/products_administration_guide_chapter09186a0080531bad.html

If I understand you right , you are saying AIMS is not applicable here as site D has no local avaya system so we need PIMG ??

Please clarify

Hi -

I honestly missed the mark on this one for you :-( When I read your post, I was thinking you wanted to integrate Unity with the Avaya G3R, not the voicemail system. The PIMG document I sent you is for integrating Unity with Avaya PBX without having to place a Unity server in premise with the PBX hardware. The PIMB can be located with the PBX and the Unity server on the LAN/WAN. What is your Avaya voicemail system?

Ginger

the intergration is between the unity and Avaya VM which is located in another site .

So can AIMS work in this case ?

If you can do DTMF integration (based on your version) I would highly recommend it. The PIMG integration is a pain.

AMIS and VPIM are for networking voicemail (say Audix with Unity). PIMG or DTMF integrations are for integrating a PBX with Unity.
