Hi,
I need a little help with a unity installation. I have never do a unity installation, so I have some questions?
What hardware do I need?
What OS, Cisco OS or normal windows OS?
For example, If I have Unity 4.0 what I need from hardware and OS?
Thanks,
Vlaho

The hardware from Cisco needs to be ordered as a "Unity Server", so that it ships with the following.
Platform Configuration CD
Windows OS
The hardware sizing depends on the number of ports etc. However, you need to order a model that ends in ECS1 (such as: MCS-7835-H2-ECS1). The ECS1 designates it as a Unity Server (so it should be shipped with the disks mentioned above). Here is a link to the MCS servers on Cisco's website.

I hope this helps...

If you want it Cisco TAC supported, you will need to have an MCS server. If you are loading it up for Lab work, you can use any server. Just load Windows 2000/2003, SQL onbox. Then have access to Exchange 2000/2003/2007 and Active Directory.
Unity does use the "Cisco OS" like IPCX and CM 4.x.
Here is the installation guide for 4.x

Just to confuse things even more.
You only would not get the platform CDs is you didn't order the Cisco Servers.
However has it has been said you can load Unity on any server, even get TAC support you have the right contract. (SAU) for most versions.
