We currently have Unity 4.0.4 with exchange 2000 and exchange 2003 off box. We have subcribers homed both on the exchange 2000 and on the 2003 box. Exchange 2003 server is the partner server to Unity. Unity is also integrated with CCM 3.3.3sr4. We recently upgraded unity to 4.0.4 from 4.0.2 and introduced the new exchange 2003 server to the environment. Except for some MWI issues unity seemed to be running ok after the upgrade until today when unity suddenly stopped unexpectedly and i had to reboot the server to bring it back up. The following error message showed up in the system log:
The AvCsMgr service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 0 milliseconds: No action.
The only thing i can think of that i did before this issue occurred which i don't think would of caused unity to stop is manually resynchronized the MWI from the integration manager. I'm afraid that this might happen again. Any ideas as to why this would happen?
Thank You

You need to open a case with TAC for this one. Chances of getting it solved out here super low.
Thanks,

Did you resolve this? I am running into the same issue on a fresh install of Unity 4.0.4 with CCM 3.3.3sr3.
Thanks

Seemed like our issue was exchange related. One thing that i think did help is the Cisco engineer i had the TAC case open with deleted the MAPI reference and recreated it.

Thanks for the reply. I have identified my problem as occuring whenever one of the six exchange 2003 servers is restarted or if the mailstore is offline. When Unity sees the mailstore come back and starts to resync all 72 TSPs shutdown and then the AvCsMgr service stops.
TAC is working on it.

Greetings!
Did the TAC provide you with a final resolution to this problem? I am seeing the same thing in my environment at multiple sites.
Thanks.

What do you see in the application log before the failure?
I think it is likely that the original posters say this defect:

This is exactly what I see in the event logs. How do I get the TAC engineer that is working on my case to get me access to ES20?

You should just need to ask them for ES20. They may need the bug id to verify the issue, etc.

Yes, thanks. I found information on ES20 last night and was able to get the TAC to provide me with it. I have scheduled implementation in my New York office, which is where we are doing a large number of mailbox moves over the next few weeks, tomorrow morning.
Thanks for your assistance.
