A site with UC 7 is looking to start using message notification via SMTP (to smartphones, misc. email accounts, etc.).
The on-site smart host / email relay server requires user authentication to accept and deliver mail on behalf of UnityConnection. It cannot function as an open relay even on the private network, nor accept by IP.
Is there a way to configure an authenticating / authorizing user on UC to use when sending SMTP messages to the relay server from UC?

I have asked this question with TAC before and there is no option for it.

That's correct, there's no way to implement authentication on the UC side for an SMTP Smart Host.
