VMW-VS6-FND-K9 license behavior

We have 2 BE7M-M5-K9 servers and 2 VMW-VS6-FND-K9 embedded licenses attached with the server.

Recently our back to back support with cisco got expired and now we are working with the contract renewal. But we are facing a challenge during that process.

Cisco has announced EOS for VMW-VS6-FND-K9 as 30 November 2023. So,

  1. Can we keep the same licenses and renew the contract?
  2. Does it effect for any services after the VMW-VS6-FND-K9 EOS date?
  3. Since hardware having few years more to go EOS, does cisco provide their support after this license's EOS date?
  4. If we cannot renew the contract with this license how we can proceed?
  5. Do we need to buy new licenses? But Cisco doesn't mentioned a replacement for this license.

Hi Guys,

Is anyone here to help me?

Hardware support on the physical servers is a separate issue from support for the hypervisor. VMW-VS6-FND-K9 is a license for you ESXi hypervisor. VMware is ending support for anything in version 6. Unless you are on 6.7, you are already past end of support. Those licenses are perpetual, so they don't expire. The support for OEM key meant that Cisco would pass the case through to VMware support if they thought it was a hypervisor problem.
