How to compact Unity Connection Mail store?

Greetings, 

Backups are failing in Unity connection because the message store is too big.  I have added additional messages stores and moved the users over, however, the size of the original message store has not changed.  I'm guessing it will be cleaned up with a successful backup, but the backup fails.  Is there a tool to compact the message store and reclaim the disk space?

Unity Connection 10.5 on a spec based system.

That's a common problem with larger mailboxes - due to various reasons - sftp you are using may be reaching limits or mailbox is really big. You should normally keep the mailbox sizes under control by setting the mailbox  aging policies in place.
