Did the error specify which firmware could NOT be downgraded?

Not enough detail to know for sure. . .

Most firmware can be downgraded (CIMC, BIOS, NICs, Disk Controllers, etc).

Some firmware can NOT be downgraded (Board Controller) but is fully forward (?or backward) compatible.

Some hardware is ONLY supported on newer firmware (Review UCS 4.0 and 4.1 release notes)

If all of the hardware is supported on the older firmware, . . .

then creating a UCS firmware policy to EXCLUDE Board Controller will usually work.

Hi there

I have a similar query to this which I need some assistance with please. I have a customer who has recently upgraded their ISE environment to 2.6 and the latest patch version they are on is Patch 8. The Servers being used in the environment are SNS-3655-K9, and the CIMC firmware being used on the majority of the servers is 4.0(1e); there are a couple of servers that have been moved to 4.0(4m). One server, though, has, during troubleshooting on SR 691055167, been upgraded to 4.1(3), and since this point, there have been intermittent CIMC crashes/reloads which has resulted in the customer having to take the SNS server offline. This ISE environment is connected to an old switch infrastructure (C3560) and we're trying to understand if it's the higher version CIMC firmware thats causing this issue, or a compatibility issue between the new version CIMC firmware and the old switch infrastructure? Any help here would be most appreciated!
