Cisco Fabric Interconnect High Availability

Hi Experts,

I would like to know,

1) What adapter does fabric interconnect cluster ports ( L1, L2 ) are using for high availability ?

2) Can we able to interconnect Fabric Interconnect 6100 and Fabric Interconnect 6200 to form a cluster ? If ok means how they are exchanging heart beats since both are entirely different hardware. ?

Thanks in advance,

Arumuga Raj

Hi,

1) L1 and L2 ports are used in management purpose only basically to sync management data, and trigger a possible switchover.

2) Different hardware platforms are supported in the same cluster only in a hardware upgrade process. Actually what really happens in this meanwhile is the copy of configuration and then the new FI is promoted as primary. Although it works as a cluster, this is a active-standby cluster, where only one FI acts as primary.

Regards,

Hey Arumuga,

Yes, the brand new FI 6324 forms a cluster just like the 6200 fabric interconnect, these connections are internal built-in with a new UCS chassis. The new chassis has the same compatibility matrix of the old one, it was just adding support for the new 6300 Fabric Interconnect series and a few improvements.

Richard

HI,

1) Does UCS Mini 6324 will form a cluster or not ? Here L1 and L2 ports are absent physically? Could you please explain the functionality ?
