Hi,
We have Cisco UCS C Series C220 M3 Server and EMC VNXe3200 storage. In server, we have installed vic 1225 adapter and windows 2012 R2. We have to C220 M3 server directly connected to SAN FC port but still we are not able to map the storage. In storage initiator are not able auto discover the server WWN.
Please tell us how to configure server and SAN directly. We are not configuring SAN as boot from SAN. We are using SAN just as Storage.

Greetings.
The Cisco VICs are CNAs ,use 10Gb (or higher) Ethernet transceivers, and do not natively connect to FC ports.
The Cisco Vic config via the CIMC, allows you to setup FCOE type parameters included the required FCOE VLAN.
If you have a FC transceiver somehow plugged into the VIC card, this will not work. If you have an 10Gb Ethernet/SR SFP plugged into it, then your storage interfaces would need to natively support matching speed Ethernet transceiver for FCOE, and also provide basic FC functionality like zoning, etc.
If your Storage is strictly FC, then you will need some sort of switch like the Nexus 5K that has FCOE/ethernet and native FC capabilities.
If you do not have a Nexus 5K switch, or UCSM, then you may want to consider a Native FC card from the c220m3 spec sheet

I am trying to setup my C22 M3 for boot from SAN. It has Qlogic QLE2462 4Gbps 2 port FC HBA and is connected to Cisco MDS 9148. How do I make it talk to MDS switch and configure boot LUN on VNX 5300 storage? Any pointers please
