While creating PEER link for a VPC  is it must to have peer switches  back to back connected or there can be a extended layer 2 connectivity over multiple layer 2 devices in between . If so is there any limitation on number of devices in between.

They recommend that there directly connected if there is only 1 sup in each chassis but it does not have to be directly connected it can be set across switches

Not sure of overall limitation of switches in between though

Hi Mark

Thanks for the response.

Just curious to know how 1 sup or 2 SUP would matter in case of peer link.

Akash

sorry got that slightly back to front , should have stated its in relation to using oob mgmt ports with vpc-peer keepalive they should only have 1 sup . This is because in a dual Supervisor system, only one management port is active at any one time. If the mgmt0 interfaces are connected without a switch, i.e. back-to-back, this will cause issues with vPC.

our Nexus setup is directly connected with dual sups in each chassis but not using the oob for peer-link keepalive using standard 10gb ports , you shouldn't have an issue no matter how many sups using standard ports, there's only certain recommendations when using the mgmt. ports with vpcs

Thanks a lot Mark  :-)
