Connecting UCS in FC Switch mode to multiple SANs

Firmware is 2.2.x, FI are 6248...

Think the way to go is 2,3,n Global VSANs, 2,3,n pairs of HBAs, each pair associated to one VSAN. I am not quite clear when it comes to Storage Connection Policy and zoning. Looking for some advise.

Thanks

Hi Frank

Why do you need UCS in FC switch mode (you have 6248, therefore not miniUCS) ? There are many caveats, e.g. no static domain id support, no enhanced zoning support, no support for non Cisco FC switches.......

you could connect to multiple San's with FC EHM (NPV) as well, and the SAN could be Cisco (MDS, N5k) or non Cisco (e.g. Brocades)

Btw. Best practise is to use different Vsan's for fabric A and B.

Walter.

PS. Only use case I could see: you would like to connect storage systems directly to UCS, and in addition to SAN's.

No SAN switches available, FC storage will be directly attached, saw an old posting of yours: https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/12238936/multiple-san-uplinks, is really not going to work in Switch mode ? Also regarding the best practice statement, is it about allocating different ids for FI A and FI B ?

Sorry misunderstanding;

This works in FC switching mode ! what is not working is connecting UCS to a Brocade FC switch.

You can connect storage (if it is on the support matrix) directly to UCS; currently HDS, EMC VNX and Netapp only.
