DIMM's Swap possible from full width to half width M3 servers??

Hello Team,

i have a confusion and wanted that to be clarified.

Is it possible to remove memory modules from Full blade (B 420 M3) and add them on half blade (B200 m3)?

RAM on full width server is 16GB DDR3-1600-MHz RDIMM/PC3-12800/dual rank/1.35V.

Same can be populated on half width m3 and is cpu playing any role in this??

According to me it is possible, as RAM is not dependent to full width or half width blades.

Also, DIMMs within the blade can be of different speeds, but all DIMMs will run at the speed of the DIMM with the lowest speed.

Expert Advice please :).

Regards

Andy !!

Greetings.

It really comes down to whether the DIMMs you are successfully using in B420m3 are on the specsheet of the B200M3.

The good news is that all DIMMs currently on B420M3 spec sheet are on the B200M3 spec sheet.

The spec sheet links above contain the DIMM population rules, and notes about mixing speeds/sizes.

Thanks,

Kirk
