Problem I have is this..
I need to create an FC zone on an FI (6248) that contains 2 Initiators (Storage) and 2 Targets (Tape Drive Library) to allow NDMP dumps.
I can't see any way to manually alter or create a zone on the FI's they seem to be created only when adding an HBA to a Service Profile and only contain those members added to boot profiles.
Can anyone think of a way that would allow me to create or spoof a zone that would include the 4 members perhaps even with an HBA added to a blade that doesn't end up participating in the data path?
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

I assume you are talking about a configuration where the FC storage is directly connected to UCS FI ?
You would like to create one zone, with 2 initiators and 2 targets ? correct ?
You have the choice between single initiator - single target, and single initiator - multiple targets !
You cannot do one zone with 2 initiators and 2 targets, but
2 zones, with one initiator and 2 targets; I think this should solve your problem ??

Yes, two zones with one initiator (the storage) and 2 targets (the tape drives) would work.. :-) Issue is then, can the initiator be anything other than the HBA in the SP?

You could just create a dummy vhba ! yes it has to be in the context of a SP.
Just be aware, that in this setup, the UCS FI is used as a transit FC switch, between storage and tape.
Health warning !!! Although technically it might / will work, Cisco doesn't support direct attachment of tape libraries to UCS FI.

see comment Table 9
Direct connect of tape libraries is not supported
