We were supporting multiple FC fabrics and so need PIN groups to route the appropriate switches based on the physical cabling. We have now retired the old fabric and have all the FC uplink ports going to same set of switches.
All the vHBAs are using PIN groups. Is there a reasonable way to back out of using PIN groups? Should I remove a group of vHBAs from a few ports and then delete the PIN group so I can start moving vHBAs to dynamic pinning?

remove pin group from all vhba, this will automatically change to dynamic pinning; then you can delete pin group.

So UCSM will dynamically assign to an FC uplink port even if all the FC uplinks are currently assigned to a PIN group? I'll try that on a couple of vHBAs since all my servers have at least two ports. thanks

If you have vhba that have no pin group assigned, UCS will just do round robin dynamic pinning for this vhba's over all the uplinks, even if this uplinks are used in static ping groups.
