hi

hope yo are okay , long time not to get back here I have two question about the UCS BLADES B200 BLASED, I am using the 1.4 UCS release

1- did I need to assign an customer LAN (external IPv 4) for each Blades to be accessed through KVM withen the UCS manager interface,

I mean  I need to browse blades  inside UCS from each profile the KVM of the server and I will not access it from outside UCS ?

this is becuase the cutomer did not like to provide a new VLAN that has 32 IP' for managment KVM blades , can I use any range not used in his network and make in with the UCS only.( server links and UCS Fabric interconnet ) ??

2- when make accosiation profile to server blade and it is UP and work , for any issue I shutdown the server and put the blades it in another slot or chassis

does the blade came up with same profile accosiation or I have to change the profile asociation ???

thanks for the reply

Hi Mohammad,

1. To utilize the KVM, you need to configure the IP management pool - from which the IP addresses are automatically taken from. All IP addresses in the management IP pool must be in the same subnet as the IP address of the fabric interconnect.

2. If you shut down the blade (that has a service profile associated to it) and move the blade to another slot, the service profile will NOT follow the blade. The service profile will have an configuration error saying that the server resource is unavailable. The blade in the new slot will come up as unassociated.

Hope this helps to clarify.

Thanks,

Michael
