HyperFlex Deployment Error - no space left on device

Dears,

I am installing HyperFlex HX220c in our company. All validation tasks and version compatibility were successful. Versions being used:

  • HX Data Platform Installer: v2.5.1a
  • UCS Manager: 3.1(3c)
  • Vcenter & ESXi hosts: 6.5

When HXDP installer reaches the stage of deploying the Storage Controller VM on the nodes, it deploys successfully and starts transferring files to install software packages on the CVM. Only 2 nodes are completing successfully. I have one node which is giving the below error:

failed to transfer file to /tmp/.ansible/ansible-tmp- ...

... no space left on device

I tried restarting this specific host and retrying the install. Also successful on two nodes and this same node gave another error:

Installing Software Packages on Storage Controller VM
failed with 'One or more items failed'
In vCenter i can see two nodes each with a datastore of VMFS 5 file type and 3.5GB capacity with only 257MB free, while i have two 64GB SD Card on each HX node in the cluster! Does anyone have any idea how to resolve this? Is the issue with the 3.5GB data-store or something else I am missing?
Thank you!

For your reference, the HXDP version v2.5.1a I was using was removed from CISCO due to bugs in the installer. Use the newer version:

  • HX Data Platform Installer: v2.5.1b

Issue solved.
