IMM Transition Tool - UCS Central to Intersight

What are the things that we should watch out for when migrating from UCS Central to Intersight using IMM Transition tool? What happens to UCS Central or UCSM after the transition? Can it still be used? What happens when the tool fails?

The tool just reads the logical configuration from UCSM/UCS Central and turns it into Intersight configuration. It would still require manual intervention to put the domains into IMM mode and apply the domain/chassis/server profiles so there would be no direct impact of the tool failing.

Once the domain is in IMM mode you would no longer use UCS Manager/UCS Central to manage that domain.

Hi @rhap4boyz .

The only way to convert from UCSMM to IMM is with a complete wipe of the config on the FIs and re-setup in IMM.

If your goal is to connect the 9508 chassis (and not to move to IMM per se), you can upgrade to UCS firmware 4.3, it added support for all the UCS-X components (chassis, servers/rackmounts & IFMs). We have been running 6 UCS-X based chassis/blades/IFMs in UCSMMM since Oct'24 and have not had any major issues with it. UCSMM support for UCS-X has been a real lifeline for us.

Before UCS firmware 4.3, UCSM did not support the UCS-X hardware, meaning the only way to provision it, was via Intersight with the FIs in IMM.

Thank you for the quick response!
Putting the domain in IMM mode requires decommission and erase everything including fabric interconnect and reconfigure correct? If there is only one existing domain with a pair of FI 6454 and 5108, if the goal is to add ucsx 9508 to the same FI 6454 convert to IMM, there isn’t a way to migrate without downtime right? Unless moving the VMs to somewhere else?
