Installing ESXi to microSD (Flexutil) or USB, C220 M5 (BE6M-M5-K9)

Hi all,

I am trying to install ESXi to microSD or USB in a Cisco C220 M5 rack server. The SD card AND the USB stick are recognized by the system itself, they are listed as bootable options if I go into the boot menu.

HOWEVER.. When I boot to the ESXi installer (Cisco specific, 7.0.1), and scan for available devices, the only thing that shows up is the RAID I have configured for the SAS drives.

I have reset the BIOS to defaults, tried UEFI and Legacy boot, pretty much anything I Can think of, and i'm completely stuck.

I have NEVER had this kind of problem installing.. well.. anything.. to microSD or USB in other model servers, including an older model Cisco..

MicroSD cards are not meant for OS boot.  You will want to get regular SD cards, or M.2 drives,.
