Moving RAID to a different server

Hi guys!

We have a UCS Serie C210 with a RAID1 and RAID 5 configuration. Recently, we have adquire a new UCS Serie C240 and we want to move the raid to this new server but the raid controllers are different and we dont know if just moving the disk from one server to another will maintain the data on the disk.

Anyone has done this before?.

The model on the c240 is UCSC-RAID-11-C240 the model use on the c210 m2 is LSI MegaRAID 9261-8i.

In order to swap the RAID controller from server to server, you will need to make sure the device is supported on both servers:

The configuration actually lives on the raid controller. It records the serial number of the drives to identify the raid. If you swap the drives then the other server will see it as new drives and attempt to initialize them. If you swap the drives AND the raid controller you should be good to go. Hope it will work.
