Does anyone know if there is a way to pass through a USB device through an ESX host to a virtual server via a B200 M2 blade? We have done this with physical servers before, but have never even had the situation come up with a blade server until now. A piece of software is needing a USB dongle license key passed though to a virtual machine. Really thought that USB key license dongles were a thing of the past.

What's the OS?
You can copy the license file to the Guest VM, and use software to emulate a USB drive and mount it within the guest itself. Works on any Windows box.

If that doesn't work, just mount the USB drive in vMedia or using the physical KVM dongle for the blade and follow the USB Passthrough process from ESX host to VM.
