Port channel between FI & N5k

Hello Team,

I have came across different configuration for different customer. Not sure why & what is the difference??

Ist Design, we have cross cabling between FI6200 and Nexus5548 i.e. which is the recommended by Cisco or standard UCS design.

2 uplinks between Fabric A and Nexus A
2 uplinks between Fabric A and Nexus B
2 uplinks between Fabric B and Nexus A
2 uplinks between Fabric B and Nexus B.

2nd Design, we have straight connection between FI6296 and Nexus7010 i.e.

4 uplinks between Fabric A and Nexus A
4 uplinks between Fabric B and Nexus B

According to me both designs seems OK to me. Redundancy is there in case of any h/w failure on Nexus and FI level

Kindly give your expert comments.

Regards

Andy !!

Greetings.

I would setup each FI with 2 links to nexus A, and 2 links to Nexus B.  Per FI, it will see the 4 uplinks as a single port-channel, while the nexus configs will see it as dual member pairs of a VPC.

There are always exceptions, but that config is what we see the most often.

Thanks,

Kirk...
