UCS and Netapp ISCSI direct connect

Hi,

I can't ping from ESXi ISCSI vmkernel to Netapp iscsi interface.

Can't see the provisioned storage on ESX.

I want to rule out any issues on the UCS side.

UCS 2.2.2 version with ESXi 5.5 local boot, loaded on the blades.

Netapp direct attached to UCS via ISCSI 10gb.

Is your Netapp in the same IP subnet as the ESXi vmkernel interface ?

Is the Netapp hanging off a "Appliance" Fabric Interconnect port ?

I would also check, if your vlan 93 (for your vnic mapped to iscsi interface) is marked as native vlan !!!

Hello,

Has the desired iscsi vlan been enabled on the standard uplinks as well as the upstream switch device? I have seen behavior where we are unable to start passing traffic to aplianes until we have hte vln configured there as well.

You will notice that the nic never actually pins to the appliance port, but instead pins to the uplink. The following whitepaper will go into more detail on that behavior:
