USC-C240-M4SX Server Power Cycle

Per this bug CSCvz33909 : Bug Search Tool (cisco.com), the recommendation is to power cycle.

Looking for full guide/directions on how to power cycle the UCS, CIMC/ESXI

As stated in bug the CIMC is not reachable via Gui or SSH, however ESXI is.

Please advise.

Thanks

Those bug notes might need to be updated to say "power drain"

Normally unresponsive CIMC conditions, require a power drain (power cord pull) for a minute, and the upon powering backup the CIMC will boot up.

Obviously, prior to pulling power cord, you will have wanted to shutdown/migrate your guestVMs/put host in vmware maintenance mode, power off ESXi host gracefully via vcenter or esxi gui.

Under some conditions you might be able to try using smart serial access and get the CIMC to reboot via cli: https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/unified_computing/ucs/c/sw/cli/config/guide/4_1/b_Cisco_UCS_C-Series_CLI_Configuration_Guide_41/b_Cisco_UCS_C-Series_CLI_Configuration_Guide_41_chapter_01.html#id_15139

Smart Access: Serial

The Smart Access: Serial allows offline configuration of C-series servers using the command line interface (CLI) through serial connection. With this setup, you are not required to connect the Cisco IMC to the network in order to access the command line interface.  The serial connection can be accessed using either the KVM dongle (DB9), or the serial port (RJ-45) at the rear of the chassis.
