All,
I inherited a server currently connected to the FI with direct connect (vic 1227). The server is running RHEL 7 and the application team was expecting to use the LOM ports, but as I expected and saw in multiple posts, LOMs are "disabled" once it is managed through UCSM (although they showed link activity i cant see the nics at the OS level) . The objective is to use the LOM ports as a span ports (diff uplink switches, not the FIs) which I think cannot be done through the FI (vic).
Hoping I dont have to reconfigure this as a stand alone...
Thanks in advance.

The LOM ports are off by design, as the UCSM is configured to manage all the networking via a service profile.
The only way to insert additional, non-ucsm, networking, is to add a 3rd party non-CNA, NIC (i.e. 4 port Intel card).
Thanks,
Kirk...

Thanks Kirk for you quick response, not even configuring the server as a stand alone do i have an option to use either the CNA (vic) or the LOM card for the intended purpose, say 1 port for management/data and the other as span port?
Thanks

If you are talking stand alone, then CIMC mgmt options are (NIC Mode drop=down list):
The ports that can be used to access Cisco IMC. This can be one of the following:
Dedicated—The management port that is used to access the Cisco IMC.
Cisco Card—Any port on the adapter card that can be used to access Cisco IMC. The Cisco adapter card has to be installed in a slot with Network the Communications Services Interface protocol support (NCSI).
Shared LOM—Any LOM (LAN on Motherboard) port that can be used to access Cisco IMC.
Shared LOM Extended—Any LOM port or adapter card port that can be used to access Cisco IMC. The Cisco adapter card has to be installed in a slot with NCSI support.
Note
For UCS C-Series C125 M5 servers and S3260 servers, the NIC Mode is set to Cisco Card by default.
For other UCS C-Series M4 and M5 servers, the NIC mode is set to Shared LOM Extended by default
The VIC slot that can be used for management functions in Cisco card mode.
For C125, VIC slot option is Riser 2.
For C220 M4, C220 M5 and C240 M5 servers, VIC slot options are as follows:
Riser 1—Slot 1 is selected.
Riser 2— Slot 2 is selected.
FLEX LOM—Slot 3 (MLOM) is selected.
For C240 M4 servers, VIC slot options are as follows:
Riser 1—Slot 2 is the primary slot, but you can also use slot 1.
Riser 2— Slot 5 is the primary slot, but you can also use slot 4.
FLEX LOM—Slot 7 (MLOM) is selected.
In standalone mode you can use the 1Gb LOM ports for CIMC mgmt,, or even use the 1Gb dedicate mgmt port for CIMC management, and leave the other 1Gb ports for data traffic as well as the VIC card ports for data.
