in vsphere why does my vnic shows 40000Mbps. while another host will only show 10000Mbps

You must have the VIC 1240/1280 or 1240 port expander option in the server showing 40G and only the VIC 1240 in the one showing 10G. Take a look at this SpecSheet, starting on page 38.

all my seves are b200 m2. I think they all have the sae 1280vic on them...
