Cisco UCS Platform Emulator, Release 3.0(2cPE1)
CONFIGURATION IMPORT NOTE: Importing configuration backups (All, System, or Logical) taken from the UCS Platform Emulator (UCSPE) to physical UCS Manager domains is not recommended or supported by Cisco TAC. UCSPE backups should only be imported to UCSPE domains.
The UCS Platform Emulator version 3.0(2cPE1) is a platform release that ONLY supports the 6324 Fabric Interconnect based domains. No other Fabric Interconnect (6100 / 6200) will work with this UCSPE.
New Hardware Features
Cisco UCS Platform Emulator, Release 3.0(2cPE1), adds support for the following new hardware:
– Modifications to the VM Console login
– Modifications to the VM Console Options Menu
– Modifications to the Network Settings
– Modifications to the System Settings
– More details added to the Status Summary display
Known Limitations
Cisco UCS Platform Emulator, Release 3.0(2cPE1) has the following limitations:
NOTE: From UCS PE 2.2(1bPE1) onwards, UCS PE supports uploading the B-Series and C-Series server firmware bundles. Because of the large file sizes of the firmware bundles, UCS PE only supports uploading of only the stripped-down versions (attached to this document), which includes only the firmware metadata but not the actual firmware itself in the binaries. The stripped-down version of the firwmare bundles which contain metadata only of the B-series and C-series server firmware is reduced to approximately 50 kB in size.

I downloaded it sucessfully but when i tried to make VM on Vsphere it didn't work

Having problems logging in to the HTML5 interface. "Unable to connect to the server. The application will now exit."
Unable to download. every time it says interrupted and download stopped. Any help
Hi Eric, What the maximum number of servers the latest UCSPE can simulate? Is there a restriction on the number of Chassis that I can add?
Faced downloading problem.Stoped after 12mb out of 806.8MB. Any Suggestion?
Hi,
Can someone provide step by step instructions to run the UCSM ? Appreciate your help.
What do you mean by that how to do stuff in the UCSM or how to access it?
After downloading the UCSPE, I tried to open with vmware player but I do not see any option to start USCM. I am trying to gain some experience learning UCSM for my DC exam preparation. Will this emulator help?
Hi,
Not sure where your stuck but here are some suggestions:
first un zip it. (the ova is in the zip file).
second open the OVA file with you player then click on import
you will have a wizard for importing the ova (this change from player to player)
after that you will have a new VM to run.
The UCS emulator requires some configuration before you can actually run it.
I would suggest to go trough the Manual configuration part.
and yes this is very help full to learn (less stuff to break then real prod).
I hope this helps.
Steph
Thanks for your response.
I am using Windows 7 Enterprise. Downloaded the .zip file and extracted it but did not see any ova file. I see the .vmx file and I tried to open with Vmware Player and I see a blank screen inside the player. Not sure what I am missing here..
Regards,
Shankar
did you power on the VM?
Yes. I did.
Regards,
Shankar
ok,
What player are you using?
and usually when I open the zip I get an ova. file that I then import in my player (I have a full Vcenter so this is actually very easy) I don't understand what you did to get to the vmx file without first importing it somehow.
I would just redo the process from the start.
Maybe you missed something.
Steph.
Here is the version information.
I will try to redo the install steps.
Regards,
Shankar
