LDAP authentication is failing with "No user-search filter defined"

Hi,

I followed an old guide https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/unified_computing/ucs/sw/sample_configurations/UCSM_1_4_LDAP_with_AD/b_Sample_Configuration_LDAP_with_AD/b_Sample_Configuration_LDAP_with_AD_chapter_01.html for trying to configure AD authentication on a 4.2(1f) UCS domain.  The FI pair can ping the AD server, but GUI authentication fails, and when I try the CLI I get this error:

G03-6332-B(nxos)# test aaa server ldap 172.16.100.251 <account> <account password>
error authenticating to server
No user-search filter defined

Can't find any helpful reference to "user-search filter".  Played around with the Filter field in Admin>User Management>LDAP changing it from the base of "cn=$userid", but nothing has worked.

Any ideas or pointers?

Thanks,

-Ramesh
