VMs in In UCS unable to ping to host when not in mgmt group port

Hi,

I have a UCS B connected to a fibre interconnect. They are installed with esxi hypervisor.

The VM are then added to the vcenter.

However, when the ports are allocated to the vlans inside vsphere , they are unable to ping the vcenter.

When we shift the vm to the same port group as the mgmt port of the esxi host, it is able to ping th vcenter.

we have pin group port 5 and 6 for mgmt port.

Port 7 to a vlan.

I lost. anyone can help me?

Thanks

There's not enough detail to provide an answer.

- All all the UCS vNICs allowing the VM's VLANs?

- Are you using any Native VLANs on the UCS vNICs?

- Have you tagged the VM's port group within vCenter correctly?

It's like a Layer 2 VLAN issue somewhere.

If the above don't point you towards your answer then provide the following:

-vNIC configuration within UCS (which VLANs are allowed, including any VLANs set as native)

-vSwitch Port Group settings - send screen shots

-Why are you using Pin Groups?

Hi Robert, thanks for your prompt reply.

- Are all the UCS vNICs allowing the VM's VLANs?

Yes. The varoius vNICs have been set to allow the specfic vlans to go through.

- Are you using any Native VLANs on the UCS vNICs?

Native lan is set as the defult lan, no?

- Have you tagged the VM's port group within vCenter correctly?

Yeah. The VM port group is tagged correctly

It's like a Layer 2 VLAN issue somewhere.

If the above don't point you towards your answer then provide the following:

-vNIC configuration within UCS (which VLANs are allowed, including any VLANs set as native)

Different vNICs have been set to to allow the respective vlans to go through. However i set the defult vlan as native, no?

-vSwitch Port Group settings - send screen shots

Currently not available

-Why are you using Pin Groups?

To connect to the uplink port in the fibreinterconnect for the vm to be able to connect to the vcenter
