Did you try to install a version of 6.x then try another upgrade to 7.1.2? If you are able to get to the logs I assume you can try a downgrade.

The SX20 does have 3.5mm speaker output. It wouldn't be digital sound but may make it easier to handle the sound output through the receiver. This is just another option though.
