We are now able to reliably replicate the problem at will and have opened a case with TAC (after taking out a SMARTNet contract). No resolution as yet. Firmware level 1.3.5 does not appear to make any difference to this issue.
Just trolling the docs looking for routers that have Option 66 before ordering some to try.Step 4 does looks to be superfluous as it seems to replicate a component function of the tftp server. A question for our Cisco rep to explain.
