Robert Rogier
Cisco Employee
I started my career as a bench-tech repairing white-box computers that we built. The company decided to start a dial-up Internet provider and I was given the opportunity to build it from scratch. I started with 1 Cisco 2500 router, an octopus cable, and 8 US Robotics V.54 modems. I ended up with a successful ISP with over 400 clients. I then moved on to a manufacturing plant with a small LAN. While there I rebuilt the network infrastructure, installed new switches and added the companies first permanent Internet connection which was a fractional T1 split between voice and data. I also built a MS Exchange server for their email, designed a new Windows NT 4 Domain topology and installed a SQL Server for a new ERP system. I also did custom coding to write software to automatically print labels for the order. From this I joined several consulting companies. At the first one I developed a program used to resolve medicare payment issues with insurance companies. I also collaborated with several other software development projects and did network design and implementation as well as being the network engineer for our local branch. The second consulting company involved writing back-end COM+ objects for a ZIP code management system. I then moved on to both web development in ColdFusion, ASP, ASP.net, JSP, and PHP. I also worked on a project to write a point-of-sale program for the secondary ticket broker market. I then joined a ticket broker startup when there was about 50 people working for them. I designed all aspects of the network and server infrastructure including AD, SQL, Exchange, Webservers, Firewalls, switches, routers, IDSM, etc. I also was responsible for a data-center migration of all of our servers and a migration to HP Blades. We also used a NetScaler load balancer for server load balancing, static image offloading, and Global Failover. Finally, we implemented an HP EVA-6000 SAN and migrated our SQL Server infrastructure to this. We also implemented a BI suite with multiple SQL Servers pulling data down and then organizing it for easy reporting. After this, I joined a Cisco partner as the internal network engineer and upgraded the CCM infrastructure, IPCC, Unity, and did a full implementation of MeetingPlace Enterprise edition with audio and web conferencing resources. My last job before Cisco was working for a major educational company that owned several colleges, universities, and trade schools around the world. I was the Cisco IP Telephony Engineer for them and upgraded a 45 site CCM 4 system with a System IPCC Enterprise 7.2 contact center to CUCM 7.1 and SIPCCE 7.5. We ran Commnité Messaging Interaction Center as our voicemail platform with a SIP integration to CUCM using Dialogic TIMGs.
