I have a Telco Systems Access 211 VoIP Gateway using H.323 which I am trying to figure out what type of device I would configure it under. This device is basically an ATA for use in residential homes. My question is what type of device should it run under - CTI Route point, Phone using H323 clients ??
Thank you

onfigure it as a H323 gateway device, point a route pattern with the required number to the unit's IP address.

Is there any other information as to setting the unit up as a gateway. I have the unit set as a h323 gateway device with a route pattern pointing to the number 970-642-4258. What is happening is that we are getting a fast busy.
Thank you Jason

Check the region settings on the call nmanager, you might be using G729 or G711 for the calls , and the H323 device may not support the codec, or use a diffent codec by default.
When you say you get a fast busy, is this on the H323 unit or an IP phone? Does the H323 unit do any form of debugs or traces ?

I went ahead and openned the unit up for you to take a look at web or telnet to 64.74.186.253. I have the regions set to the correct codecs. But take a look and let me know what you think.
Thank you Jason

Just had a look at the device. Couple of things I spotted :
Packetisation period for G711 and G729 - set this to 20msec
DTMF relay - set to H245
Biggest problem is the device wants to use a H323 gatekeeper, which the call manager is not... The Call manager appears as a H323 gateway device, not a H323 gatekeeper.
It does not look like the device can be directed to a another H323 gateway device without the need to have a gatekeeper in the middle. You might need to contact the manufacturer and find out if the unit can run as a standalone H323 terminal device that does not need to be registered to a a H323 gatekeeper.
The other option is to set up a H323 gatekeeper and have the unit and the call manager register to it, but this is starting to increase the complexity somewhat - looks like that bargain 3rd party VOIP device was not such a good deal after all!!!

I have a gatekeeper set up and running as well. I'll try inputting the Gatekeeper IP then see if it registers. What I'm trying to do is solve an equipment price problem for our clients. I'll let you know.

Got register to the Gatekeeper have dial tone. Fast busy when calling to 211 and also when I attempt to dial out of the 211. I assume at this point there may be a routing problem since the unit is on the outside of the PIX where as the gateway to PSTN and both Call Managers on the inside of the PIX.
