Why are Efxs ports created in a Cisco CME

Hello Guys,

                 I wanted to know why are Efxs ports created in a Cisco Cme, i know that they get created when we create DN's which look like

50/0/x. Just wanted to know why & for what reason are these virtual fxs ports created.


Any help would be appreciated...
