504g/509g-7.6.2-Cannot Flash Custom Ringtone

Hello All,

We have the need to flash a custom ringtone to our phones here. They are mostly 504g with a couple of 509g. They are all running the latest firmware 7.6.2. We have the ringer sound as a wav file and tried using this utility that was posted to the cisco forums: https://supportforums.cisco.com/document/37331/ringtonezip but it is not working.

Most time it just keeps going and going and going and just fails after an hour. Other times the status bar just keep going and going and when I see an updated display on the phone I try and listen to the ringtone and it is just loud static.

Can someone please help me figure out how to get this done?

Well, your description is rather vague, so hard to guess the cause.

May be the utility you are using is not compiled for the system you are running it on.

Have you ringtone acceptable length ?  If I remember correctly:

• Minimum ring size — 240 samples
• Maximum ring size — 16080 samples
• Number of samples in the ring must be evenly divisible by 240
• Ring should start and end at the zero crossing

You should narrow the issue cause. Make sure your file is correct format and length. Turn on syslog&debug and catch them. Capture the communication between utility and phone.

It will help us to analyze the cause.
