Hello
I was trying to change display language on Cisco SPA phone. I set up tftp server with dicts and also dictionary scripts in web interface. According to tftp server it seemed that phone download just english dict, so I changed language in web interface. There was no attempt to download anything from tftp, phone just reboots and now looks like bricked (boots only to show Cisco logo). Phone is POE powered (without power supply) and there is no attempt for network. Is there any way how to reset phone in this state?
Thank you

It sounds familiar to me. Wrong configuration of language can turn phone into brick. Despite known for more than four years, it's not patched.
As far as I know, Cisco claim no solution. Return phone to seller if under warranty. You are out of luck otherwise.

Thank you for the answer, unfortunatelly you are completely right. Helpdesk is polite, but only solution seems to be RMA. Going to test different brand.

It depend on features requested.
CIsco phones have two exceptional features:
1. same automatic configuration style - you need not to change your provisioning server just because of new model or new firmware version. I'm using the same script to create configurations for SPA1x2, SPA5xx and even PAP2T
2. unique secure identification token embedded in every phone - it allow me to create zero-touch deployment of new phones the secure way.
Yes, the support is worse than those provided by Chinese garage companies, but beyond firmware bug related to language configuration, the Cisco phones have no severe issues. We have about 1500 phones deployed in our network (Charles University, Prague). About five has failed during past three years.
