Hi guys,
Our team of 10 sales people are currently using the Cisco IP Phone SPA504G. Due to the shift work that our employees currently undertake they are not always in together and the same time/day, do not always sit at the same desk and therefore don't always use the same phone - this makes tracking their call stats impossible as phones are assigned to only one individual yet have multiple people using them.
Is there any way the people can log-in and log-out of a phones so that call stats can be tracked accordingly? If so how can I go about setting up accounts for each employee so they can log-in to their phone they are using and therefore allowing us to track their progress for the day?
Please let me know ASAP! We are trailing a new system and hoping to get it started and being able to do this is heavily dependant on the above.
Many thanks in advance.

Hi Omri.daniel1:
I'm not a Telephony expert, but wanted to see if I can assist as you were looking for a reall quick response. Others will chime in as needed,. I believe you're trying to set up Extension Mobility - This is where you can log into your extension from any physical phone and it assumes your assigned profile (phone number, voicemail, etc.. What CME are you running?

Many thanks for your speedy response.
So it is possible to physically log-in and out of the phones? Great to know. Not sure what a CME is (if you could eloborate) so couldn't tell you I'm sorry to say. Clearly, this is not my field of expertise!
Any simple help as what to do next would be incredibly appreciated and helpful.

Hi Omri.Daniel1:
As Dan_Lukes suggested, you should reach out to your Telephony team to help you understand your current environment first..
Also as Dan mentioned, one way is to assign a phone to your employees, and have them plug and unplug as necessary. Keep in mind - If you move from one subnet to another you will have to adjust Network Configuration on the phone. I wish there was a simple answer for you.
CME is Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express
Good Luck,
Glenn

So many ways how to fulfill your needs.
You can use Extension Mobility, as mentioned by glmartin. You can lock/unlock incomming/outgoing/both calls using a supplemental service code style of login. Users may be obliged to prefix dialed number by an account number ...
There are some less common solutions as well - you may assign particular phone to particular man. Phone will be disconnected, stored and locked somewhere when "owner" is not in office.
The "best" solution depends on Call Manager/SIP PBX the phones are connected to.
As kyour CM/PBX administrator for help.

In short, user can invoke login procedure. Phone will ask provisioning server for user's personal configuration and reconfigure self. On logoff it asks for 'guest' configuration and reconfigure self accordingly.
But you need a provisioning server that supports the Extension Mobility feature.
If you have it (it may be part of CM/PBX already), it needs to be configured. If you have no such server, no Extension Mobility is possible until deplyed.Or you may consider other solutions (it depend on CM/PBX you are connected to).
You claimed this is not your field of expertise - so you should ask an local expert for help. Configuration of provisioning server (if you have one) or deployment of new one (if you have no such server yet) or evaluation of other solutions is no task suitable for inexperienced user.
