Many businesses incur delayed openings and closures due to inclement weather.
Our Cisco UC-540 is supposed to support the following capability;
A employee calls the main number, navigates to extension 397, enters their credentials and records a temporary closure message. The alternate greeting is then set as active to advise staff and customers that the business is closed for weather. The next day, the alternate message is deactivated and then the open/closed/business AA greetings are resumed.
We are able to record an alternate AA greeting, and make it active. However it does not play - the open/closed greetings continue to play instead.
I'm pretty sure this is an issue with the script not checking to see if the alternate greeting is active.
We have opened a ticket with the STAC (SR 620031135), but they are telling us this is not supported. Their solution is for the receptionist to go through some convoluted process involving the CUE, uploading to the CCA and setting the message in the CCA. It goes without saying that proposed solution is neither competent, nor acceptable.

Hello Brook,
You are correct. The problem with the Alternate greeting is with the script being used. The "V03" script does not have the proper hooks included for the Alternate greeting. You have 2 options to get the Alternate greeting to work.
1. You can uploade the new "V04" script, (Included with software pack 8.2.0) which includes the proper hooks to use the Alternate greeting.
2. You can create a custom script in the CUE web interface, and enable the Alternate greeting.
Note: Option 2 would require CLI support for the unit, according to the Small Business Support policy.
Thank you,
Darren

Darren,
I did this instead
https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-12789
...which I think might be the same script.
Anyway, the AA Alternate greeting is now pre-pended to the open greeting. I'll test the closed greeting tonight and advise.
Thanks.

Brook,
That should work fine. The V03 script that you downloaded is an updated version of the original V03 script, to include the proper hooks for the Alternate greeting, which was also implemented in the V04 script.
Thank you,
Darren
