Definitive List Of Key Difference Between KTS & PBX Modes

Hi All,

With the ever increasing nature of changes to the UC-500 series I have lost total track of the key differences between a KTS system and a PBX based system, so I am looking for community help in order to build a system profile sheet to outline the differences so Sales Staff and Clients alike can understand things more clearer... I am getting frustrated being put on the spot and no longer being able to answer them and give a proper an answer to their questions.

So with the help of the Cisco Team and the Community as well, I would like to obtain the following:

  • What a KTS mode system will offer, or can do - cannot do
  • What a PBX mode system will offer, or can do - cannot do
  • Key advantages of going into KTS mode versus going into PBX mode
  • Key Advantages of going into PBX mode versus going into KTS mode
  • What would in your opinion constitute an ideal client/candidate for a KTS mode system (Biases accepted)
  • What would in your opinion constitute an ideal client/candidate for a PBX mode system (Biases accepted)

If anyone has a list that would also be appreciated, basically my goal now is to try and understand the clear and define differences instead of just placing every single system in PBX mode and then working out how to mimic the KTS solution, it is in essence a measure to try and improve my methodology of deployments, but I sense this might help others out as well.

This is also about selling the right solution and not the wrong solution to the right candidate which is becoming a regular occurance these days and ends up giving both the partner and Cisco a bad name, something I would very much like to avoid.

I thank all of you in advance for your participation.

Cheers,

David.
