How to Transfer directly to Voicemail

I am having trouble transferring directly to voicemail. My device is the Cisco 8861 Gigabit Color Business Phone and it has the CP-BEKEM 8800 VoIP IP Phone Key Expansion connected on the side. I want to determine how to transfer to the VM of other employees at our company without it ringing their line. I found online that you can select BlindXfer then *55 then choose the extension. But when I click *5 (before I can select the '5' again) it automatically declines my request. Is there a different way I can do this operation?

Are you using Webex Calling or Cisco Unified Communications Manager?  With Webex calling, that should always work. (Feature access codes for Webex Calling)
