RESOLVED: SPA504G Firmware Upload Fails with error: "Upgrade Failed: Firmware Upload Incomplete"

Hello, I am trying to update two SPA504G  phones because hopefully it will make the MWI light go off after I have listened to the voicemails. The red MWI alert stays on, so does the envelope indicator on the screen along with the intermittent dial tone. I don't to have the same problem with my Yealink T28p so I assumed the firmware would resolve my issue if only I could upgrade it. :-/

Upon trying to update two SPA504G phones to 7.6.1 from 7.4.9c & 7.4.8a both give me the same error which is "Upgrade Failed: Firmware Upload Incomplete" I have attached images to support this.

My phone provider is YAY.COM - It's a small business system with three SIP phones.

It apears to upload the firmware then starts to update flashing for around 5 seconds before returning to the normal screen - but it then takes around 30 seconds to give me the error message.

I have downloaded the firmware twice in case of corruption and tried installing it from the root directory of the C: drive my WIn7 machine in case I had it too many directory levels down.

I have rebooted the phones and most things most people slightly techy would do just in case. I'm no phone voip guru but I am okay with this technology stuff after 20 years working with it.

I'm stuck now and hoping someone can point me to the reason the phone won't update or better still mhy the message indicator won't go off.

You SHOULD read Release Notes before an upgrade attempt.

Thanks Dan, I went back to the download page and notice the collapsed index behind the number "7" - I have downloaded it now and trust this will at least get me upgraded. Fingers crossed it will solve my MWI problems too.

Appreciate you taking the time to reply to me and getting me out of the hole I was in.

Thanks very much. :-)

Fingers crossed it will solve my MWI

Ask if issue will not be solved. Don't forget to disclose captured SIP packet in such case. Also syslog&debug captured may help.

Thanks to Dan for his assistance getting the firmware up to date and solving that problem by incrementing my updates a version at a time.

My MWI (Message Waiting Indicator) not going off was resolved by my provider. By chance they had made changes to the backend the same day I changed phones. I didn't need to make any changes to my phone from the default settings.

My SIP provider is Yay.com who I have to say have been brilliant on the three or four occassions I have called them up. I hope the good service I get continues.

I hope this helps someone else in the future.

Thanks again for the assistance and patience go to Dan Lukes.

Glad to hear your issues has been solved.

Also, small promotion of yay.com has been heard and understood ;-)

If you are aware of the matter of MWI issue, then describe it here, please. It may help customers of other providers facing simmilar issue.

By the way, you edited the starting comment of this thread (adding RESOLVED: to it's title), isn't it ? Unfortunatelly, it turned "answered thread" into unanswered one (because question is newer than the "correct answer").
