You need no particular vendor supports particular product as long as you solution is based on standard/open protocols. Closed and proprietary protocol give a vendor so much power over your budget.
Just remember the Cisco discontinued PAP2T adapter with no replacement suitable for production deployment.
Of course, if you need features unavailable in standard, then you have no choice but trust vendor of proprietary solution that he will not push you to trash all of your devices and buy the new ones from them so often.
