I just upgraded my spa504g to 7.4.6 and the phones works and registers as being on 7.4.6 and all seems well but when I plug my computer into the PC port it no longer connects and I get a network cable unplugged. If I plug in directly to the uc520 my pc connects fine and grabs dhcp etc.
any ideas on why this firmware upgrade might have caused this?
Also is there a way to setup the spa504g's with a static ip and manually setup all their ip settings including tftp server etc? I have browsed to the ip of the phone in a web browser but I can't make changes anywhere.
thanks

Do you get a link light on the PC? Is it just one SPA504G or multiple with the problem? What kind of switch is the phone plugged into? If it is only one phone with this problem, you might try plugging a differenct phone into the same switchport to see if is in fact the phone causing the problem
To set static IP settings on a 504G phone, press the Settings button>Network Configuration.
Then press **# to unlock the settings.
Turn off DHCP and then you will be able to setup Static IP information.

ok thanks compton
this is what I needed and I eventually figured it all out on the weekend. the network loss was due to a static shock that occurred each time I touched my laptop. this would disable the network connection from the laptop to the phone. upon phone reset it would work again.
the **# I finally found through calling cisco. I could not find this in any documentation.
thanks
